Chichi Neblett: Canada, My Favourite Escape

Chichi Neblett (born Chichi Veronica Neblett) is a prominent Liberian-born Nollywood and Ghallywood actress, film producer, entrepreneur, and social media influencer.
She tells Allure Vanguard about her favourite destinations, the places that inspire her creatively, travel philosophy, and why she believes Bali and the Maldives could offer the perfect balance of creation and recovery.
Enjoy!

As an actress and entrepreneur, travel must be a big part of your lifestyle. What destination has left the strongest impression on you and why?
Canada left the strongest impression on me. I love the sense of adventure there; from the mountains to the lakes, there’s always something to explore. Plus, travelling there with USD feels amazing because the exchange rate makes everything more accessible, so I can experience more without stressing about budget.

Many people travel to unwind, while others travel for work. For you, how do you balance business trips with actually enjoying the experience?
For me, it’s about being intentional. Work comes first on a business trip, but I always carve out time to actually be there. Even if it’s just a morning walk, trying local food, or 1 hour to explore the city without my phone, that’s what turns a trip from “work only” into an experience I remember.

Has there ever been a destination in your home country or abroad that inspired a film idea or changed your perspective creatively?
Yes, 100%. I was born in Liberia, and the country itself feels like a film set. We have beaches that stretch forever, quiet lagoons, misty mountains, and forests that feel like another world. Just being there sparks stories in me. I’ve already written a couple of scripts inspired by those landscapes, raw, emotional, rooted in home. I’m just waiting for the right time and the right budget to bring them to life.

As someone who also runs a business, what have your travels taught you about entrepreneurship and different ways people do business around the world?
Running a business and acting both taught me the same thing on the road: every market is a new audience. In one country, people want the story behind your brand. In another, they want the data. Travel taught me to switch scenes without losing my character. The lesson? Be rooted in your values, but flexible in your approach. That’s how you scale anywhere.

Your home country has so many beautiful tourist destinations. Which places here would you recommend to both locals and international visitors?
Liberia is one of West Africa’s best-kept secrets, and I’m always excited to show it off. If you want the full experience, these three places capture what makes home special for locals and international visitors alike.
Robertsport, for pure beaches plus surf vibes; then Sapo National Park, for nature plus adventure; and Providence Island, for Monrovia’s historic sites, culture plus history.

Why did you recommend them?
Liberia gives you three things in one trip: adventure, peace, and meaning. You can surf in the morning, walk through a rainforest in the afternoon, and end the day learning where your country started. That mix is rare.
That’s Liberia for me, beautiful, raw, and full of stories waiting to be told.

When you travel, what draws you more—luxury experiences, cultural exploration, adventure, or simply peaceful relaxation?
As an actress, I’m addicted to stories, and the best ones live in culture. As an entrepreneur, I learn the most from seeing how people solve problems in different places. So cultural exploration wins for me. I’ll take a local bus over a 5-star suite any day, because that’s where the real experience is. Adventure and peace are the bonus scenes.

Can you share one unforgettable travel experience?
One of my most unforgettable travel experiences wasn’t about a place; it was about people. While visiting London, I was standing near Tower Bridge when a stranger suddenly hit me in the face. I had just undergone surgery, so I was terrified that the incident might affect my recovery.

Thankfully, the friend I was visiting stepped in to protect me, and the police eventually intervened. What touched me most was that they continued checking on me even after I had returned home, asking if I was okay or experiencing any pain.
It was frightening at the time, but it reminded me that even in unexpected moments of chaos, people will still stand up for you. That kindness is something I’ll never forget.

Looking ahead, what destinations are still on your bucket list, and what kind of experience are you hoping to find there?
As an actress, I’m drawn to Bali because every corner feels like a story waiting to be told: the culture, the colours, the energy. As an entrepreneur, I need the Maldives because peace is part of performance. You can’t give your best if you’re always running. So Bali is for creation; the Maldives is for recovery. That balance is what I’m looking for next.

If you had to choose between a dream travel opportunity abroad and staying back for someone you deeply love, which would win and why?
If it’s life and death, if that person truly needs me in a hospital room to survive, I’d stay, no question. Love shows up when it matters most. But if it’s not that kind of emergency, I’d still travel. I believe we serve the people we love better when we keep growing, experiencing, and becoming more of ourselves. Travel doesn’t mean I love them less. It means I’m building a fuller life to come back to them with.
