Amber Heard is attempting to overturn Johnny Depp’s victory in the defamation case brought against her. On April 11, a trial for Depp’s lawsuit against the actress began. On June 1, the actor was declared the winner. Heard expressed her dissatisfaction with the decision, calling it “a setback for women.” The actress’ attorneys said in a 43-page brief submitted to a Virginia court on Friday that the decision was based on faulty legal reasoning, the jury was not properly screened, and excessive damages were granted. Heard did not mention the actor by name, but Depp’s attorneys claimed that her claims made it harder for him to obtain acting jobs. Heard’s most recent filing asked the court to reverse the judgment or retry the case. Heard further urged the court to reexamine the case and then take the appropriate action. A memo ...
