Due to the death of the Queen, the children of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet “Lili” Mountbatten-Windsor, are now eligible to retain royal titles. The flip is the result of traditions set over a century ago. Royal titles are automatically bestowed upon the monarch’s grandchildren by regulations enacted by George V in 1917.
