Comedian Bovi pens down lessons he learnt from rap legend, Tupac Shakur

Twenty years after his death on September 13, 1996, Tupac Shakur’s legacy is still felt, although, there are controversies on whether the American rapper is still alive or dead.

In commemoration of the rap legend, Comedian Bovi took to Instagram yesterday to reflecting on some of the lessons he learnt from him. According to Bovi, most people are concerned with public relations and getting big names for themselves without adding value. Here is what the comedian wrote:

“20 years today! Still relevant!!!! The lessons I learned from Pac both when he was alive and after his life have had a tremendous impact on my methods. But most important of all is I learned that only a man’s works can speak for him and keep him relevant! These days, many people focus on having big names!”

“You see them in the news, on the blogs, on tv and everywhere else. Funny thing is, they have so big a PR presence, it dwarfs their work! For some, it’s PR without any body of work to show. And our younger ones are beginning to think that’s the right way! Hype is like a balloon, it takes a pin to burst one. Work is like the sky; if u look up u will see it! @najitedede said something profound.”

“People admire a beautiful cake but nobody really eats the icing.” I wanna be a cake! Don’t wanna be all ice.”

Tupac was born in New York but grew up in Baltimore. He was shot on September 7, 1996 shortly after a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. He died of sustained injuries six days later. As of 2007, Tupac had sold over 75 million records world wide.
