Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s daughter set to marry Mallam Kurfi today

The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi would be giving his daughter’s hand in marriage to Mallam Abubakar Umar Kurfi today, December 23, 2016, hence roads would be leading to the marriage ceremony between Fulani Siddika Sanusi and her beau, Mallam Abubakar Umar Kurfi.
Part of the activities lined up for the ceremony included a Kunshi that held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016.
Kunshi is an important Hausa traditional wedding rites. It is about doing fanciful henna paintings on the bride and beautifying her for her upcoming big day.
Fulani Siddika’s Kunshi was a well-attended ceremony, notably among the guests was wealthy business woman, Hajiya Bola Shagaya among others.
Another Hausa traditional wedding rite is the Kamu ceremony which is regarded as one of the oldest tradition in Hausa/Fulani wedding. It is translanted to mean ”catching the bride”.
