Celebrity photographer, Anny Roberts gave a domestic help, Amaka an artistic makeover in these new photos.

The celebrity photographer known to have worked with MI, Chris Attoh, Muna, Lola Rae, Noble Igwe amongst others spotted the help, who coincidentally had been dreaming of becoming a model.

On describing her story:
The girl who was captured in these spectacular shots was Amaka; a house help who had been dreaming of becoming a model and practiced often in front of the mirror as her only source of motivation. Growing up in dire poverty, she recounts going days without food and water in the village, she describes her displaced siblings, whom she hasn’t seen in years as they had gone on to become maids in the major cities to avoid starving to death. She also opted to move to Lagos in search of a life, any kind of life.

Amaka’s modelling dreams became a reality when Anny Robert visited a friend meaning to drop off a birthday gift. Amaka had walked past him to her Aunt’s flat with a crate of eggs on her head dressed down in a black vest and jeans. She did not pass unnoticed as Anny became endeared to Amaka’s physique and requested she visited his studio for some portrait shoots which she shyly declined. However, his friend took liability for Amaka’s going and returning from the studio. Just like that the idea was birthed.
