Chocolate city boss, Audu Maikori gets bail on health grounds after re-arrest

You would recall that Chocolate City boss, Audu Maikori was arrested some weeks back for misinforming the public on Twitter. He had claimed that five students of the College of Education, Gidan Waya, Kaduna State, were killed in the conflict in southern Kaduna.
After the #FreeAudu campaign took over social media, Audu was released from detention. However, he was re-arrested on Friday, March 10th, 2017 following a warrant issued by a Federal magistrate in Kaduna, but has been granted bail.
Maikori was escorted to Kaduna Magistrate’s Court, located along Ibrahim Taiwo road this morning by the state’s police officers and Director of Public Prosecution in Kaduna State, Dari Bayero.
Audu was charged under Section 24 of the Cybercrime Act but was granted bail on health grounds.
The court has adjourned his trial till April 20th, 2017, when he would appear before the state’s Chief Magistrate.
It was reported that the Lawyer cum businessman collapsed on March 7th while taking pictures with attendees at an event in Lagos. and said to be on medications as at the time of his second arrest.
