Media personality, Funmi Iyanda says Yoruba men do not mind their wives cheating on them

Media personality, Funmi Iyanda, in her vlog series, talked about Yoruba demons, a  slang associated with men from the  South-western part of the country,  some of whom are known to be smooth talkers, have multiple partners and break hearts easily.

According to Funmi Iyanda, the average Yoruba man wants to be like his great-great-great-grandfather , is polygamous in nature and does not mind his wife cheating on him as long as he does not know.  She also added that he has struggles with tradition and westernization.

She was quoted saying:
“I think a lot of things we call African culture are actually a confusion and bastardization of Victorian ideas, Victorian philosophy and Victorian culture”

“…this is why this Yoruba thing is very interesting because what people don’t like is that they appear on one hand to be very Western and on the other hand they behave like bushmen who are polygamous in nature”

She further said:

“What you get are these young men who on the surface of it look like westernized men but deep down they have these ideas of Yoruba ideas of what relationships should be.”

”Deep down the average Yoruba man wants to be like his great-great-great grandfather.”

However, Funmi Iyanda stirred up controversy when she said that the average Yoruba man doesn’t really mind his wife cheating as long as he doesn’t know.
