Actress, Ego Boyo criticises Nollywood filmmakers over poor content

Veteran Nollywood actress, Ego Boyo, known for her role as Ann Haastrup in popular television series ‘ Checkmate’ in the 90s, criticised Nollywood Filmmakers for poor content and lack of originality in recent movies produced.
According to her, the current state of the Nigerian movie industry is nothing to write home about. She described the movie industry as pathetic, mediocre, lacking creative content and originality.
Taking to twitter, Ego Boyo wrote:
“The moment you realise that saying it like it is in our industry of make believe, is unwelcome by most. Let’s just keep pretending..
“Mediocre can’t be our target. Are we selling out venues and selling out real creative content. Lack of originality.
“I miss the days when the content was rich, original even if tech wasn’t great. Now tech is better, even great, and some stories are??”
