Actor, Desmond Elliott leads Kwavithon 5K race in Lagos

By Rita Chioma,
Determined to extend love and support to survivors of sexual assault and rape, International Lifestyle Coach, Kwavi Agbeyegbe, has created a campaign, #MiraclesForMirabel.
To achieve this at the Mirabel Centre in Lagos, the Atlanta/ Georgia-based mother of two is set to hold the second edition of her ‘Kwavithon 5K race’ event in Lagos on Saturday, November 11, 2017.
The race, which will be led by Honorable Desmond Elliott, a lawmaker and filmmaker, is aimed at providing a platform to bring awareness of the frequency of rape in the community and open up the conversation on what could be done to reduce rape and sexual assaults in the society.
Shedding more light on the ‘Kwavithon 5K race,’  Ms Kwavi emphasised on the urgent need to create more awareness for the sake of the children.
She said, “The race which would start at Seven8, Playground, 13B Adebayo Doherty, Lekki Phase one, is to targeted at creating awareness, as awareness creates change. Once you tell one person, they will tell another, using social media, word of mouth and other methods. And before you know it, a movement has started! I believe every individual has interest in the dialogue of cases relating sexual assault and rape. We all have our mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, wives, aunts or female friends.
“
While still explaining the position of Mirable Center in taking care of those who have unfortunately encountered a form of sexual abuse or the other, Kwavi stated, “Mirabel Center provides holistic and high quality medical and psychosocial services to survivors of sexual assault and rape.”
She quickly added, “The majority of the people coming through the doors at the Center are younger than 14 years of age, while some are even less than a year old. They are young children whose lives have been changed in a drastic way by those that were meant to love and protect them.
“How you can help?” Join by walking or running the ‘Kwavithon 5k’ on Saturday, November 11, by 7am, to support the #MiraclesForMirabel campaign. Register at www.kwavithon.com
Let’s come together to create Miracles for Mirabel.
However, for those who would be unable to join us for the race, they can help to create MiraclesForMirabel by sponsoring the race through a donation at www.kwavithon.com“
