Balenciaga becomes latest designer to try dual-gender runway

Fashion Editors and fashion show attendees looking forward to the Fall 2018 shows in February will have another dual-gender runway to add to their calendars: Balenciaga Creative Director, Demna Gvasalia will show his men’s and women’s collections together for the first time, as the brand announced on Tuesday. 
Gvasalia just relaunched Balenciaga’s menswear business last June, and has so far shown three collections as part of Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.
Suggesting that those menswear collections have been well-received, the house also announced that it will introduce men’s pre-collections, beginning with a pre-fall range to be revealed in January.
A slew of luxury brands have begun showing men’s and women’s collections together in recent seasons including Kenzo, Burberry, Calvin Klein and Gucci, the latter of which, like Balenciaga, is owned by Kering.
When Gucci announced its plans for gender unification, the New York Times reported that Kering would use Gucci as a “test case,” indicating it would roll out the concept to other brands if it proved successful.
