Veteran singer and songwriter, Onyeka Onwenu, has appealed to President Buhari to do everything within his power to ensure the rescue of Leah Sharibu and all other children in Boko Haram captivity.

In a video uploaded to Facebook by Senator Ben Murray-Bruce on Wednesday, Onyeka made a passionate appeal to the president, telling him to borrow a leaf from the rescue of the Thai boys’ soccer team and do everything to ensure the rescue of Leah Sharibu in Boko Haram captivity.

Leah Sharibu is the only Dapchi school girl is still in Boko Haram captivity. She was withheld after she refused to denounce her Christian faith.

Leah’s mother, Rebecca Sharibu revealed in May, that she reunited with her daughter in a dream.

Rebecca recalled that in the trance, her daughter explained what she went through.

She said: “We hugged each other very tight in such a way that no force can separate us before.

“Leah told me: Mama I really suffered in their hand. We use to sleep on leaves and barely take bath. But, they fed me well.

“That minutes of excitement nearly took away all my sorrow. Sadly, it was a dream. I cried when I opened my eyes and realized it was a dream.”

Recall that Dapchi schoolgirls, who were kidnapped in by Boko Haram terrorists in February 2018 from her school in the town of Dapchi. Excluding the five dead girls that did not make it back, only Leah Sharibu was not brought back by the terrorists. The reason given was that she refused to renounce Christianity and convert to Islam. Consequently, Boko Haram members refused to release her.
