Women are really breaking grounds and uping their games in the corporate world.

Over the weekend, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, announced the appointment of Mrs. Oyeyimika Adeboye as Managing Director, with effect from April 1, 2019.

With this appointment, she becomes the first woman to head the multinational company which was established in Nigeria over five decades ago.

Adeboye takes over from Mr. Amir Shamsi, who moves on to a new role within Mondelçz International, the parent company of Cadbury Nigeria. The new managing director, a chartered accountant, joined the Board of the Company in November 2008, as Finance and Strategy Director, West Africa.

Prior to joining Cadbury Nigeria, Mrs. Adeboye was the Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Nigerian Bottling Company Plc. She previously worked for the erstwhile Accounting and Tax Practice of Arthur Andersen & Co as well as the United Kingdom Accounting practice of Midgley Snelling & Co., Chartered Accountants.

Adeboye has an impressive track record in finance, strategy and business administration both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria.

Similarly, Cadbury Nigeria Plc has announced the retirement of Mr. Bala Yesufu, Director, Corporate and Government Affairs, West Africa, and member of the West Africa Leadership Team (WALT).

In a statement by the Company, Mr. Yesufu would be disengaging from Cadbury after about six years meritorious service to the organization, effective 19th March, 2019.

The statement said: “Bala brought his vast wealth of experience to bear during his stint with Cadbury, to the extent that he deployed his good relationship with government to unlock regulatory logjams and got issues resolved in a jiffy. Under his stewardship, the Company enjoyed cordial relationship with its various publics particularly governments at all levels, host communities, regulatory bodies, and the media. He was instrumental in strengthening Cadbury’s corporate reputation with critical stakeholders.”

Prior to joining Cadbury Nigeria in 2013, Yesufu was the Public Affairs Manager of Nigerian Breweries Plc, based in Abuja. At Nigerian Breweries, he managed various portfolios during his 21- year career and the highpoints being the establishment of a professional export market/business development framework, and management of the Heineken brand which is regarded as the Crown Jewel of the Heineken family.
