Femi Kuti to perform at opening ceremony of AFCON ’19
The Organising Committee of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) revealed that Nigeria’s legendary Afro-beat singer, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti will be performing at the opening ceremony of the competition on Friday.
In a post on CAF’s official Twitter handle, AFCON confirmed that Femi Kuti would perform the official song for this year’s AFCON alongside Hakim and Dobet Gnahore from Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.
The four-time Grammy award nominee will perform in English, while Hakim and Dobet Gnahore perform in Arabic and French respectively.
The three international musicians would be singing “Metgamaeen” which means ‘We Are Together’, produced by Synergy together on stage in Cairo, Egypt.
