Ejiro Amos Tafiri’s fashion words of wisdom
Top Nigerian fashion designer, Ejiro Amos Tafiri has a few words to fashion designers who wish to be listed among the best in their craft.
She agreed that many Nigeria have the perception that fashion designing is for people who are not good with their studies and this she referred to as a misconception.
“Fashion is mathematics, pattern drafting, science and art rolled in one. You need a lot of research to get to understand why certain designs and concepts are made the way they are,” she said.
Walking into Tafiri’s office is like walking into a mini library. She even has a fashion dictionary at her center desk.
“We have to keep reading and researching. Its people that are ignorant that will think there is nothing to read about in fashion. A true fashion person knows that you have to live by your books. Fashion is deep. For as long as man has been, we have been wearing clothes.”
