Vlisco aims to develop and support upcoming tailors and designers to become established professionals through various initiatives set to facilitate the fashion system.

The Fashion Fund is one of such initiatives that invests in the African fashion industry. It empowers women, men and young entrepreneurs, by creating a platform that connects Africa’s fashion talent and creativity with the knowledge and activities of Vlisco in the African and global fashion world.

Designers who apply to the Vlisco Fashion Fund 2019 stand a chance to compete and win support that will develop and strengthen their own fashion businesses through a Career Fund totaling the sum of€ 5000,-based on an investment plan and a 2 weeks couture master class abroad.

Up and coming fashion enthusiasts with designing and sewing skills who are print-minded, reside in Nigeria, are between the ages of 20- 30 years, with not more than 5 years work experience, are encouraged to submit their CV, Portfolio (images not less than 3 and not more than 8) and short-long term business plan between August 1st–October 1st, 2019.

All relevant details and instructions are available on their website.

By submitting their application, applicants agree to be available for an interview and test at a location in Lagos (to be designated by Vlisco), between the 8th and 18th of October 2019 and are prepared to bear all costs incurred in doing so, if selected for this phase of the contest.
The Vlisco heritage is quite unlike any other, since 1846, Vlisco has not only been creating unique textiles popularly known as Wax Hollandais, but also delibratly invests in the fashion value chain by providing platforms for creative expression and collaboration with the aim to engage, inspire and empower. Through the Vlisco Fashion Fund and it’s other initiatives in the fashion system, Vlisco remains committed to progressively pushing boundaries in the fashion industry.
