Celine Dion recalls final moment with husband before his death

Celine Dion appeared on Good Morning Britain today  and recalls final moment with her husband  Rene Angell before his death. He died of throat cancer in 2016.

Celine Dion recalls death of husband

Celine Dion and husband were married for almost 22 years before his death.

Celine Dion recalled  that the last thing she said to him before his last breath was “I got this.”

She  also explained how her new album was the first English album she has released without him by her side.

She said:

“It took a while to record the album. It was a process. Losing a half of you, because we were partners, we were one. This is actually my first English album without him by my side, so that was emotional. At the same time something that was telling me that, ‘You know, it’s ok.’ “

Recounting their love, she said: “Unique. Even though he’s not physically here, he’s part of me. I see him every day through the eyes of my children. I told him just before he left, ‘It’s going to be alright, don’t worry about anything I got this I always trusted you, he trusted me. We love each other so much. No one deserves to suffer, you’ve done good kid.’

She added that,

“Being a single parent gives me even more of something powerful – they need me so much.”

Celine met Rene her husband when she was just 12 and he was 38. They began dating when she was 19 and he was 45.

They got married in 1994 and had three sons together.

Rene was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 but made a full recovery after treatment.

However the cancer returned and Rene had surgery in December 2013, before being given just “months” to live in September 2015.

Celine Dion recently released a new album titled “Courage.”
