A TV reality and talent hunt show The People’s Hero, sponsored by the International Breweries Plc, produced by MTV Base.

The grand finale of the show, which is aimed at celebrating the richness and the beauty of the Igbo culture through singing, dancing, spoken word and acting, featured captivating performances by eight finalists held at the Terra Kulture Arena in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The participants included Ebuka Eze, Angel Nkwo, Toby Okonta, Favour Onyemaechi, Joel Uzoigwe, Justice Alili, Tehila Terex and Ellis Mc Reynolds.

Energetic Angel Nkwo started the show with a performance that underlies the passion and creativity in Igbo contemporary dance forms. Spoken word artiste, Okonta, followed suit with a performance that underscored the need for peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic and religious groups in Nigeria and Africa as a while. The sheer lyricism of his act got the audience screaming for more.

As if taking a cue from Okonta’s enlivening performance, Onyemaechi thrilled the audience and the judges to a soul-stirring rendition of some songs. This is to mention but a few performances that defined the tempo of the final show.

Eventually, Eze, who was the only actor among the finalists, was announced as the winner of the show. He was presented with the star prize of N7million and for a bonus, earned the right to the title, ‘The People’s Hero.’ His performance was adjudjed the most outstanding, in terms of meaning, content and delivery.

Alili, a talented spoken word artiste who was previously saved from a possible evistion, emerged the first runner-up. He was rewarded with N2million, while Uzoigwe, who was also saved by a wild card, was announced as the second runner- up with a cash prize of N1 million.

The last woman standing, Favour Onyemaechi got a consolation prize of N500,000.

Commenting on the performances, rapper Ill Bliss and Nollywood actress, Rachael Okonkwo, who were among judges, congratulated all the finalists on their improvement through the competition and charged them to work hard to fulfill their dreams.
