The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) has confirmed the cause of the death of Chynna Rogers, a 25-year-old US rapper, as the case of a drug overdose.

Rogers, who was an upcoming artiste, had died in her Philadelphia home on Wednesday after she was found unresponsive but the cause of her death remained unknown at the time.

But on Thursday, NBC news quoted James Garrow, a spokesman for the PDPH, to have said that the gifted rapper died from an accidental drug overdose.

Rogers had signed with the agency Ford Models at age 14 after being discovered at the Six Flags Great Adventure park in New Jersey.

With her passion for music, the Philadelphia native was said to have later teamed up with the A$AP Yams, a US producer, who died of a drug overdose after forming the hip-hop group A$AP Mob.

Rogers was also said to have opened up about her music career, her struggles with drug addiction and the death of her mother, which she said she refused to let derail her sobriety.

The Philadelphia model-turned-rapper was best known for her hit singles ‘Selfie’ and ‘Glen Coco’.

News of Rogers’ death comes months after Juice Wrld, another US rapper, died after going into a convulsion, with his girlfriends confirming he had been taking Percocet, an opioid painkiller.
