Janet Afolabi, Apomu Queen, Distributes Noodles, Masks To Kids On Children’s Day

Janet Afolabi, the olori (queen) of Apomu town in Osun, has distributed packs of noodles and face masks to kids towards marking the 2020 Children’s Day in the state.

As the COVID-19 crisis prompted the closure of academic institutions across Nigeria, public personalities and leaders initiated several causes targeted at minimizing kids’ trauma and academic disruption.

On Wednesday, Afolabi embarked on a humanitarian cause, which saw her distribute relief materials to needy children living in various suburbs, promising that the gesture won’t be a one-off.

Following the commendations that trailed her actions, the Apomu queen said she decided to reach out because of the plight of these kids, especially as the world continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

According to her, there are many families living within local communities across the country that cannot feed their children due to the downside of the outbreak which has impeded economic activities.

“As we celebrate 2020 children day, we should remember children in need and put a smile on their faces. We should give them hope for a greater tomorrow,” she said.

Afolabi also charged parents on their expected roles in keeping their children safe during this pandemic. She urged them to encourage their wards to always wash their hands and practice social distancing.

Aside from the inhabitants of Apomu community, the queen also donated 100 face masks to Government Special School of the Blind in Ikere, Ekiti state.
