BET awards 2020 : Burna Boy wins Best International Act
The African giant , Burna Boy has won the Best International Act in the BET awards 2020. This is after winning it in 2019.
This makes Burna Boy the first Nigerian to win the BET awards two consecutive time.
He won the award after beating his fellow nominees in that category, they includes Innoss’B (DRC), Sho Madjozi (South Africa), Dave (UK), Stormzy (UK), Ninho (France), and S.Pri Noir (France)
Super model Naomi Campel presented the International Best Act award to Burna Boy who gave his acceptance speech virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While delivering his acceptance speech Burna Boy said for black lives to matter , Africa must matter.
He said ;
“I’ll like to use this opportunity to say that sometime around 1835, there was a mission to turn Africa into a dominated nation.”
“Now is the time to overturn that and go back to the royalty that we were, because, in order for black lives to matter, Africa must matter”
This is the first ever virtual BET awards and this resulted due to the restrictions because of the corona virus pandemic.
