Indecent Dressing Not An Invitation For Rape – Yul Edochie

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has cautioned those attributing rape crimes in the country to indecent dressing, stating that such is no excuse for forcefully having sex with their subjects.

In the past few days, social media platforms have been inundated with protests over the rape and murder of Vera Omozuwa, a student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), who took to a church to study.

At about the same time, Barakat Bello, an 18-year-old student of the Institute of Agriculture, Research and Training, Ibadan, died in similar fashion but at her father’s home.

Amid the ongoing debates as to how policymakers can tackle the menace, the 38-year-old film star took to his Twitter page on Sunday to dismiss attributions of rape to indecent dressing.

“I do not encourage indecent dressing. But no matter how indecently dressed she is, guy it’s not an invitation for rape,” he wrote.

“If you both agreed on pay as you go, you pay, she no wan give you, get ur money back through non-violent means. Do not touch her. There’s no excuse for rape.”

Edochie comments come as Busola Dakolo had revealed that she would further pursue her rape allegations against Biodun Fatoyinbo, a senior pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA).

“The police have concluded its investigation. And handed over its report to the Ministry of Justice in Abuja for onward prosecution of Biodun Fatoyinbo,” the celebrity photographer, 35, had said.

“What they didn’t know is that, before we even began, we prepared for a long haul battle that may take years because Nigeria’s legal system isn’t wired to help sexual abuse victims get justice.”
