Music: Taylor Swift Drops ‘Folklore’ Album

US singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift, has put out her eighth album ‘Folklore’, less than 24 hours after the vocalist had announced its release schedule out of the blue.

On Thursday, the actress had released the list of songs on the 16-track project and names of artistes featured in it while admitting she had waited for the “perfect timing” to drop the body of work.

“Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that did happen. And that thing is my 8th studio album, folklore,” she had said.

‘Folklore’, which Swift had conceived in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, follows eleven months after ‘Lover’, her seventh studio album in 2019.

Among the music personalities with whom Swift worked with for the new project are Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver, Jack Antonoff, William Bowery, Laura Sisk, Jon Low, as well as Serban Ghenea.

“Folklore will have 16 songs on the standard edition, but the physical deluxe editions will include a bonus track called ‘the lakes’,” the vocalist had said..

“Because this is my 8th studio album, I made 8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week. Each deluxe edition has unique covers, photos, and artwork.”

Swift, who has earned herself numerous awards, is known for her narrative songwriting that often centers around her personal life, which has received widespread critical praise and media coverage.

Born in Pennsylvania, she had relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004 to pursue a career in music and emerged the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house at 14.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album would later become the longest-charting song of the 2000s on the Billboard 200, among other records she had set with her chart-topping third track ‘Our Song’.
