Beyonce Turns African Diva, features Shatta Wale In ‘Already’ Visuals

Beyonce, an American singer, has released the video to ‘Already’, a track off her ‘The Lion King: The Gift‘ album with Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian singer-cum-songwriter, and Major Lazer, a Jamaican-American electronic dance music trio.

For her 2019 album, Beyonce had featured a deluge of music heavyweights like Wizkid, Childish Gambino, Pharrell, Tierra Whack, 070 Shake, Mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, and Shatta Wale.

On Friday, she debuted the visuals to ‘Already’, a track wherein she and Wale immerse themselves in the Afropop genre and cultural peculiarities of the African continent.

‘Already’ opens with a scene where Beyonce and her cohorts could be seen clinging to treetops and painted in green chalk as a man in background converses with his colleague about racial identity.

This gives way to another scene where the songstress becomes the cynosure of all eyes flanked by women of colour as all parties break out throwing electrifying dance moves, adorned in African outfits.

Aside from ‘Already’, the ‘Lion King’ album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 with 54,000 album-equivalent units, of which 11,000 were pure album sales.

“The soundtrack is a love letter to Africa. I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my own interpretation of it,” she had explained.

“I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa. A lot of the drums, the chants, all of these incredible new sounds mixed with some of the producers from America.”
