Kanye West, a US rapper, has been nominated for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards — less than a week after he shared a video of himself peeing on one of his 21 Grammy awards.

On September 16, TheCable Lifestyle reported how the controversial singer had called out Universal Music Group (UMG), a US record label, in a Twitter rampage.

The 43-year-old also shared the short video clip wherein he could be seen urinating on one of his Grammy awards in a toilet bowl.

But on Tuesday, Billboard released a listicle spanning artists up for its 2020 awards with West and Post Malone, another rapper, leading the pack.

Topping overall is Malone with 16 nods while Lil Nas X secured 13 nominations. Billie Eilish and Khalid were tied with 12 each while West picked up 9 nods.

Others who made the list are Ed Sheeran, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.

The awards are based on the chart period of March 23, 2019 through March 14, 2020

For this year’s edition, Kelly Clarkson, a US actress, will return as the host in an event to broadcast live from The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on October 14.
