Did you know that your body is capable of producing hormones to put you in a better mood?

How your body produces Happy Hormones

Ebube Nwagbo

Ever heard of endorphins, dopamine, serotonin or oxytocin? These are neurotransmitters that drives your brain’s reward system making them natural mood boosters, they travel through the bloodstream acting as messengers while playing a part in bodily processes. You may ask yourself, how do I make my body produce more of these hormones?

These few activities will do the trick

Exercise: Exercising is known to have an abundance of benefits and releasing happy hormones is also on that list. Studies have shown that regular physical activity is linked to an increase in endorphin, dopamine and serotonin levels.

Outdoor Walks: Don’t say no to that outdoor walk sunlight can help increase serotonin and endorphin levels. If possible let it be a morning walk so you can also take in vitamin D from the morning sunlight.

Eat: The right meals can also give a boost of happy hormone levels. Turn to beans, eggs, low-fat meat, yogurt, almonds, they will help with dopamine release. Spicy foods have been known to trigger endorphin release while bananas, fish, milk, turkey are linked to serotonin increase

Comic reliefs/laughing: Thankfully there are so many places to turn to for humor now, take advantage of those Instagram pages and have a good laugh, this will help to boost dopamine and endorphin levels thereby relieving stress and anxiety

Other activities also include meditation, music, getting more sleep time and spending quality time with loved ones.
