Stop Relying On Celebrities For Protests – Tiwa Savage

October 9,2020
Share:

Popular Nigerian singer, Tiwa savage has charged youths in the country to wake up and fight for themselves instead of relying on celebrities to protest for them.

The 40-year-old was speaking on Thursday on the back of protests against the alleged brutality and extra-judicial killings by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the ‘Celia’ crooner wondered if any of the youths relied on celebrities when they were voting for their favourite housemates at the just concluded Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show.

She, thereafter, urged young Nigerians to accord same energy and support dissipated during the reality show for the #EndSARS protest.

“Nigeria youths, you guys need to wake up. You don’t have to rely on celebrity, you didn’t call on celebrities when you were voting on big brother,” she said.

“All the celebrities you see coming out today, you guys should support them because its easy for them to sit in their house. They have visas, passports and if anything happens in Nigeria they can pack up and leave but this is our country and we have to fight”.

Falz and Runtown were also among other celebrities who took to the streets of Lagos to condemn and call for the dissolution of the SARS.
