Domestic violence: Pius Angbo, Channels TV reporter, reconciles with wife
Barely 24 hours after being called out by his wife, Dr Ifeanyinwa Angbo over alleged repeated assault by her husband, Pius Angbo, reports say Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has reconciled the couple.
Dr Angbo, who is a mother of four shared a video, crying to the public for help over alleged repeated assault by her husband
Governor Ortom reportedly met with the couple On Monday, counselled them to always settle their differences amicably and shun the temptation of engaging in violence.
He stated that as a young couple with great potentials, the husband being a versatile journalist and the wife a medical doctor, there was the need for them to foster a strong union to serve as models to others.
Mr. Pius Angbo in a reaction said he had apologised to his wife over the assault on her, stressing that he also sought the forgiveness of the entire women folk and would make amends going forward.
On her part, Dr Angbo said she had accepted her husband’s apology and forgiven him, saying their children are still tender and they needed prayers to grow stronger in love and nurture their kids to maturity.
She appreciated Governor Ortom for taking time out of his very tight schedule to make peace between them, saying the Governor’s intervention was fatherly and a demonstration of love for them.
Reactions have however trailed the reconciliation by the governor.
While many social media followers wondered if the governor has cured the husband’s anger management problem, others simply said reuniting isn’t the only way forward, but taking steps to ensure it doesn’t continue is the solution.
Dr Angbo had in a two minutes and 13 seconds video which went viral, said she has been married to Mr Angbo for six years but has never enjoyed her home.
She claimed that Angbo, a journalist and the correspondent of Channels Television in Imo State, often assaulted her over ‘petty’ arguments at home.
She said the latest assault was a result of her advice to her husband to cease spending lavishly on ladies and cater for his four children.
