Music: Runtown Drops ‘If E Happen For Lagos’ Ahead Of Christmas

Nigerian singer-producer, Runtown has come through with a single titled ‘If E Happen for Lagos’ (IEHFL).

The song, which dwells on societal issues, was released in the early hours of Thursday a day before Christmas.

Produced by Mystro, a Nigerian music mogul, IEHFL serves as a follow-up to Runtown’s single ‘Kini Issue’.

“If you don’t know a wealthy man, you know no one. If you don’t remain watchful, you’ll experience the worse things. If you haven’t partied in Lagos, you’ve done nothing. Government is trouble. They do nothing,” he sings.

“That’s how we walk all over searching for the answers. If you ask me, who am I going to ask? The same reason what teh rich are getting richer while teh poor are left to suffer. If it happens in Lagos, let it remain in Lagos.”

In 2014, Runtown had released ‘Gallardo’, the first single off his debut studio album ‘Ghetto University’. Thereafter, ‘Gallardo’ went on to win ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’ at the 2014 edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

He would later release his debut album through Eric Many Entertainment in 20115. The body of work generated over ₦35million in digital streams and earned him a spot in the list of ‘Top 5 Most Streamed Artist’.

In November 2016, Runtown released ‘Mad Over You’, which came 38 on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart.

Runtown, who is known for his social consciousnesses, was among the prominent celebrities that initiated the 2020 protests against the use of brute force among operatives of the now-disbanded special anti-robbery squad (SARS).
