Amanda Gorman’s books hit No1 & 2 on Amazon

Barely one day after delivering what has been described as a soaring poem at the inauguration of the new Oresident of United States, Amanda Gorman’s books are now numbers one and two selling on Amazon.

Amazon.com, Inc. is an American multinational technology company based in Seattle, Washington, which focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence.

The 22-year-old expressed her joy at the news in a tweet on Wednesday.
“I AM ON THE FLOOR MY BOOKS ARE #1 & #2 ON AMAZON AFTER 1 DAY! Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me and my words. As Yeats put it: “For words alone are certain good: Sing, then”.

Amanda Gorman is an American poet and activist from Los Angeles, California. Gorman’s work focuses on issues of oppression, feminism, race, and marginalization, as well as the African diaspora. Gorman is the first person to be named National Youth Poet Laureate.

On Wednesday, Gorman stepped up to the podium to deliver the reading during the presidential inauguration of Joe Biden.

Her piece, titled “The Hill We Climb,” called for unity and justice, through both reckoning with the nation’s past and looking toward its future.

The former sociology concentrator is the U.S.’ first youth poet laureate. At 22 years old, she is also the youngest to present the inaugural reading, following in the footsteps of Maya Angelou, Robert Frost, and Elizabeth Alexander
