Music: D’banj Talks Love For Women In ‘Ikebe’

Nigerian singer, D’banj has come through with ‘Ikebe’, his first and highly anticipated single of 2021.

The 40-year-old music star took to his social media page to announce the release of the three-minute project on Friday.

“New Music For My Core Fans and AC’s, #Ikebe outnow on all platforms,” he wrote on Twitter.

‘Ikebe’ has its title derived from the Yoruba word used to describe the backside of a woman.

In the song, the Kokomaster croons about the size of the backside of his female interest, which he says can “injure destiny”.

“Oh Lord, help me, I no wan sin, I beg you please. My head, my knees and toes, baby bend down low and touch your toes, no one has to know. Just close the door, omoge shut the door, I tell my body say no go die for this ikebe,” he could be heard singing in Pidgin and English.

“This kain ikebe person never see, this kain ikebe fit injure destiny. E plenty for front, e plenty for back, no go die for this ikebe.”

D’banj, whose real name is Oladapo Oyebanji, has won several music awards and has continued to use his fusion of Afrobeat and Afropop to bring his music to life.

He recently welcomed a baby girl with Didi Kilgrow, his wife.
