My October 4 Revelation – Chisom Orji

January 16,2021
Share:

Chisom Orji, a seasoned Nigerian US-based gospel artiste has recounted her October 4 revelation which gave birth to her latest single, Thank You For Your Grace.

The song produced by Franz Richards (Philadelphia) and video shot by Uvi Orogun (UK).

Orji who has written over a hundred songs, and has eight albums to her credit in an interview with Vanguard Allure shares her inspiration, motivation as well challenges she face as female gospel artist in America.

Excerpts;

  • What inspired Thank You For Your Grace?
This song came as a revelation in a dream on October 4, 2020. I saw a man in a white suit playing the song on a keyboard. He told me who will produce the song and the style of music it will be. 2.What informed your decision to feature Sonnie Badu?
  • I felt from the beginning that the song will need another artist to add a different touch to it. I have always admired the angelic voice of Sonnie Badu. My video producer who is his good friend made the connection.
    1. Any plans to work with Nigerian Gospel artistes? If yes, who?
I look forward to working with a Nigerian artiste in the future. I respect the anointing on the life of Nathaniel Bassey. I think his worship unto God is so real and deep. It will be an honor to do a song with him.
    2. 8 albums already, when did you officially join the music industry?
I started singing and writing songs professionally in 2004. I have written over a hundred songs by God’s Grace and have released eight albums.
    3. How has the journey been?
I have had ups and downs in my music career, but I have never given up. I know God has called me into the ministry of worship for His glory, and I cannot let Him down. God still gives my songs which I cannot keep to myself. The songs are meant for His children and I don’t want to be held accountable for not doing His work.
    4. What are the challenges you encounter as a Nigerian gospel artiste abroad?
The music industry is extremely competitive here in the USA. There are so many musicians out here doing exactly what I am doing. I try not to pay attention to what others are doing, I pray to be focused on God, His calling, and my purpose on earth. I try not to be distracted by the competitions going on out there, otherwise I will see myself seeking for my own glory instead of the glory of God.
    5. How does it feel being a female gospel artiste in a male dominated industry?
That is the least of my worries. I do the best I can do and leave the rest to God. Women are doing great things out there as well. I don’t see much difference really.
    6. In most cases as soon as an artiste is married, she takes a break from the industry, what are your plans towards that?
I’m married and have always had the support of my husband. He has never stopped me from chasing my dreams. He saw the passion I had for music and knew he cannot quench that burning desire in me.
    7. What’s your new year resolution?
I want to stay very close to God now than ever before. I desire to promote my songs because the world need to be blessed by them. I will likely make more music videos by God’s Grace.
    8. What bad habit do you intend to drop this 2021?
Procrastination needs to go! I tend to push things aside a lot, and this bad habit can cause serious damages.
