American rapper and singer, Trey Songz has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

According to TMZ, the 36-year-old was apprehended for trespassing and resisting arrest in an altercation with an officer during an American football game between Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Although the singer’s team is yet to address the controversy, it is understood that Songz is on a 24-hour hold.

A video obtained from Arrowhead Stadium, where the scuffle happened, shows Songz and the officer in a struggle.

The singer throws a punch at the officer’s head and gets him in a headlock while the latter pins Songz to a seat.

A witness who was at the stadium during the game was quoted as saying that the officer was out of line.

In the video, fans could be heard shouting at the officer, telling him to get off Songz until additional officers arrived.

Songz had put out his debut album ‘I Gotta Make It’ in 2005 through Atlantic Records. His follow-up album ‘Trey Day’ spawned his first top 20 single ‘Can’t Help but Wait’ and his third album ‘Ready’ would later follow in 2009.

His renewed arrest comes over four years after he was similarly charged with felony assault of a police officer and misdemeanor aggravated assault for injuring a photographer in December 2016, after a performance in Detroit.
