Burvain’s Bold Journey Into Sustainable Streetwear Through Shokun Collection
By Yemisi Suleiman
Gideon Eromosele Eigbiremolen, popularly known as Geetrinity, is the visionary behind Burvain, a contemporary streetwear brand making waves with its unique fusion of bold fashion and sustainability.
Geetrinity’s journey into the fashion world began in 2018 during his days as an architecture student, where tie-dye became the creative medium that laid the foundation for what would evolve into Burvain.
“I’ve always been drawn to bold, expressive pieces that reflect individualism,” he shares. This passion for self-expression has guided the creation of Burvain, a brand name inspired by the balance between nature (“Bur”) and elegance (“Vain”).
The ethos of Burvain is about “elevating your essence”—a call to wearers to embrace their individuality through stylish, sustainable fashion.
Burvain’s growth in the Fashion World truly took off in 2020 when Burvain was officially launched as a clothing line. From experimenting with tie-dye techniques as a student to creating a fully-fledged streetwear brand, he has always kept sustainability at the core of his work. “We’re committed to eco-friendly practices, and every piece is designed with both style and responsibility in mind,” he explains.
The brand’s latest collection, Shokun, is an exciting testament to this commitment. “Shokun means ‘master’ in Japanese, symbolizing self-expression and personal freedom,” he reveals. The collection, made from 100% polyester, features tie-dye shirts and trousers in vibrant, rainbow colors—each piece a joyful celebration of individuality and liberation.
Burvain’s collections aren’t just about aesthetics; they tell a deeper story. The Shokun collection, for instance, is inspired by breaking societal boundaries. “I want each piece to evoke a sense of liberation, allowing wearers to boldly showcase who they truly are,” says Geetrinity. He draws inspiration from streetwear culture, blending it with ethical production to offer fashion that is more than just clothes but an extension of the wearer’s identity.
This commitment to storytelling through fashion is also reflected in Burvain’s color choices. The rainbow palette used in Shokun represents more than just vibrant fashion—it’s a symbol of hope, diversity, and transformation. “Each color in the collection has its own meaning—red for passion, blue for calm, green for balance, and yellow for joy. Together, they reflect the spectrum of life and the boldness of individual expression,” he notes.
Burvain’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond design to sourcing materials. Geetrinity ensures that Burvain’s fabrics come from eco-friendly suppliers, primarily in Nigeria. “We prioritize breathable, durable materials that align with our values of sustainability and longevity,” he explains. Every fabric is carefully chosen for its quality and its minimal environmental impact, demonstrating that fashion can be both stylish and responsible.
When it comes to styling, Geetrinity has big dreams. “I’d love to style Rema, an artist who shares my Edo heritage and embodies the futuristic energy that Burvain stands for,” he says. He also admires artists like Davido, who represents African culture on a global stage.
As for the future, Geetrinity envisions Burvain going global in the next five years. “We want to create iconic collections that blend African roots with streetwear influences, pushing the boundaries of fashion while staying true to our values of sustainability and cultural representation,” he shares. Plans for pop-up stores and exclusive drops in major cities are also part of his roadmap, as he aims to create immersive experiences for Burvain’s growing community.
Standing Out in a Competitive Market
In a crowded streetwear market, Burvain sets itself apart by blending sustainability with African heritage. “We’re not just producing fashion for fashion’s sake—each piece tells a story,” says Geetrinity. By focusing on timeless designs and ethical production, Burvain offers an alternative to fast fashion, which often prioritizes trends over meaning and quality.
At the heart of Burvain is a message of optimism, boldness, and individuality. The vibrant colors and thoughtful designs reflect a life lived fully—a rejection of the dull repetition of fast fashion. As Burvain continues to grow, Geetrinity is confident that the brand will inspire wearers to not only look good but also feel good about the choices they make.
In a world increasingly focused on sustainability, Burvain is proving that fashion can be both bold and responsible—allowing wearers to truly elevate their essence.
