CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar causes uproar on Twitter with a Press Statement labelling crowd as ‘Biafran Boys’

March 31,2021
Share:

Following the backlash from Nigerians, the CCT Chairman through his spokesperson, Ibraheem Al-Hassan, has issued a statement regarding the video of him scolding and violently kicking a security man.

Al-Hassan claimed that the security man was rude and had threatened the Chairman. He also said that the Chairman was attacked by ‘Biafran Boys’.

See the full statement below:

“Our attention was drawn on a report from some online publication with a video clip suggesting the Chairman assaulted a security guard at Banex Plaza. To start with, the said plaza has been his usual place of visits for the past 18 years for shopping and repairs of his phones, and in all these periods there has never been any time he had any turmoil with anybody.

“Unfortunately, Monday’s altercations started over a parking lot, which the Chairman met vacant and it was directly opposite a shop he want (sic) to make a purchase and to fixed (sic) his phone, when the young security guard sighted him, he ordered that the Chairman should not pack (sic) his car in that particular empty space, but when the Chairman asked why, the security guard couldn’t convince the chairman.

“Although the Chairman didn’t identify himself, because to him it was needless and it was a place he visited often, the boy was rude in his approach and threatened to deal with the Chairman if he refused to leave the scene.

“Again, if the Chairman had gone there to cause trouble or intimidate someone, he would have gone there in his full official paraphernalia, but he went there alone with his younger brother.

“The policemen in the video were not the Chairman’s police team, they were policemen operating around the plaza.

“The Maitama police station personnel also came as the few policemen in the complex were apparently overwhelmed by the mobs, consisting of Biafran boys throwing matches and shape object to his car, which led to deep cut and dislocation in one of his fingers, causing damage to his car, and smashing his windscreen.

“At a point he attempted to leave the scene, these same miscreants, Biafran boys, ordered for (sic) the closure of the gate thereby assaulting him before the arrival of the police team from Maitama police station.”

Biafran boys in all caps. Oh we heard that dog whistle loud and clear.

The South West BMC called DJ Switch and Mr P IPOB.

Northern BMC called southern security guys, Biafran Boys.

Some of you don't know what is happening.

But this is dangerous.

A senior government official uses "Biafran Boys" in an official statement and the TL is quiet…. Igbos are endangered… Let us go no way.. Let us stay no way… Now it's Biafran boys… Ya Diba

To Those Detribalised One Nigeria Igbos Who Say They're Not Biafrans Or IPOB. News Flash: We're All Biafran Boys. This Is How They See Us In Nigeria! The Only Time They Separate Us Into Igbo & Niger Delta Is When They Want Oil. But When They Want To Kill Us, We're All Biafrans.

— Somto Okonkwo (@General_Somto) March 31, 2021

If a non-Igbo Federal Government staff can freely, officially and openly call Igbos Biafran boys, why then are they shooting and arresting Igbo youths for calling themselves Biafrans? pic.twitter.com/zbR1Fbf30y

Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal was caught on video physically assaulting a security man at Banex Plaza in Abuja saying the guard was “rude”. Then he issues a statement condemning Biafran boys. No decorum, totally unacceptable, he must be sacked.

— Jibrin Ibrahim (@JibrinIbrahim17) March 31, 2021

The Nigerian Govt does not see igbo people as Nigerians. And it is very unfortunate we are all silent.

A lunatic govt official calls innocent people “Biafran Boys” in a govt document, and we still don’t see the problem.

One Nigeria is a fantasy to these animals in government.

These Northners occupying the various agencies there in Abuja will be doing the worst.

Chairman of the Code of Conduct tribunal refers to citizens as Biafran Boys? This is the height of it!
Justice Danladi Umar needs to be removed from office! He has shown his bias and his position requires neutrality#WeAreAllBiafrans
