TEEWO COUTURE: PEONIES COLLECTIONS
By Yemisi Suleiman
The Peonies collection is a flower-centric fashion collection that was released by Teewo Couture in 2021.

The collection featured designs of clothes with flowery patterns. Some of the designs have Roses, Tulips, Chrysanthemums, and other flowers on the fabrics.
Flower-designed fabrics are often used in making gowns, but Teewo Couture was able to make other fashion pieces out of these fabrics, such as shorts and T-shirts, Short gowns, sundresses, and even Pant trousers.
The fabrics used ranged from silk to satin, crepe, chiffon, and cotton. These fabrics have been so chosen because of their lightness and how well-aerated they can allow the wearers to feel.
This does not mean that the fabrics were easy to work with, but that the comfort of the wearer was much considered.

Some of these fabrics are quite transparent so the choice of lining is quite commendable, it was silk for some and cotton for others. Teewo Couture took comfortability seriously with this collection which was specifically made for the ladies.
Also, the designs were made as Ready-To-Wear, and this is cool. Many times, when fabrics such as those used are bought by clients and taken to a fashion designer for something to be made from it, it usually takes some days to get them ready and the rush work may also mean that it is not carefully made to last.
However, the Ready-To-Wear approach in which Teewo decided to make the Peonies collection can be considered quite significant as it shortens the time it makes beautiful designs available in somewhat large quantities within a certain period. This is quite commendable.
The Peonies Collection was named after Peonies flowers and colors would naturally be expected but the colors were not as vibrant as one might as expect. Peonies are a few of the flowers which come in varying colours such as White, Red, Maroon, Yellow, and Purple and even the often-rare type which is the Moravian Peony has feathery foliage and deep red colour.
This made me expect that there would be all sorts of colourful designs and that looking at the collection would look like one was staring at a field of various peony flowers. What can be seen instead were designs in colors like Yellow, Pink, Blue (Peonies never come in blue) and Green.
It is worth noting that these colours are beautiful, but they are limiting choices to be made in terms of colours.
There are obvious lapses in The Peonies collections but there is also room for improvements.
We hope that the brand can be more mindful of choices except if the collection were called “Limited Edition” then we can understand why, and even to some extent, there are few colours to choose from for a collection that is supposed to boast of more than 4 colours.
