Ómòlé fashion brand unveils Checkers Collection

Rising fashion designer Adeniji Omole is ready to showcase another collection this April, barely two years after successfully presenting his inaugural collection in 2019. Adeniji is the CEO and creative director of the Ómòlé fashion brand.

He said that his new collection, called “The Checkers,” will be a collection of jackets for men. He explored his artistic flair as a designer by incorporating adire tipping and African fusion elements. The jackets are a seamless blend of artistry and style, making them standout pieces for any wardrobe. The collection also features checkered joggers, offering a versatile and casually sophisticated option that effortlessly complements any top.

Adeniji sources his materials locally, from either Tejuosho in Lagos or Aba market. He buys the textiles, takes them to the workshop, and adds prints to them. He then brings his designs to life through these textiles.

To prepare for his exhibitions, Adeniji spends days and nights thinking and collecting experiences and events happening around him. He sketches designs regularly and admires them for a while. If he finds himself going back to a certain design regularly, he is convinced that it is the right design. He then develops it and comes up with the final product. Adeniji believes that if he can be attached to a certain design, his customers will love it as well.

Adeniji professed his penchant for simple designs and colors. He is looking forward to working with international brands, particularly with Dries Van Noten, who he believes recognizes the beauty of batik and understands the concept as one that is timeless.

For aspiring young people still striving to break into the big time, Adeniji advised that they should only do it if they have the passion for it. The major drive behind his perseverance is confidence. Sometimes, when it seems like things are not going his way, he lets confidence lead the way.

Looking ahead into the future, Adeniji sees his brand, Ómòlé, opening the doors to the mainstream market for other African brands.
