14 Abducted Greenfield University Students Released
Greenfield University students kidnapped in Kaduna State have been released.
After weeks of captivity, the abducted students were released on Saturday afternoon, May 29, 2021, at a place along the Kaduna-Abuja highway, according to a Channels Television report.
Markus Zarmai, Chairman of the Parents Forum, and a few others were claimed to have met the students at the drop-off spot.
Parents of the abducted students reportedly paid the ransom and provided the kidnappers with eight new bikes before they decided to free their children, according to Channels Television.
On Thursday, April 22, 2021, 22 persons were taken from the University, including 14 female students, six male students, and two female staff members.
Five of the 22 students were slain by their kidnappers days later, despite Governor Nasir El-promise Rufai’s that no ransom or discussions would be made with criminal elements.
