Fela Kuti loses out in 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction
Fela Kuti has missed the race to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
Tina Turner, The Go- Go’s, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Dionne Warwick, and Carole King were among the international artists nominated. The late legend was nominated for the induction for the first time, but he lost to Tina Turner on the Fan Vote Final Fans’ Ballot.
On Wednesday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2021 inductees, the most varied category by musical form in the organization’s history.
“This diverse class of talented inductees reflects the Hall’s ongoing commitment to honour artists whose music created the sound of youth culture,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in a statement.
The 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
