We’ve got great news for you! If you’ve ever felt a sense of doubt about wearing your headwrap or turbans to work, then this piece is for you.

Many women are quite uncertain whether or not it’s cool for them to wear head wraps in a professional environment. For some, even wearing their natural hair to our workplace or for an interview, could be a hard decision. We mull over whether we should wear our nappy hair or play it safe by wearing a wig. But it begs us to ask the question – what exactly is wrong with head wraps in the workplace?

There are several extensive origins of women covering their hair with fabrics. In the United States, head coverings were initially used during the era of slavery in a bid to fuel oppression and denote enslavement. Over the years, women have endured prejudiced hair laws and policies in their places of work.

Without a doubt, times have changed. Headwraps have now become valued and an emblem of perseverance and empowerment for women all over the world. Now we see bold and beautifully wrapped head wears donned on the heads of women – not only for the love of style but also for their usefulness. You could decide to wear a head wrap to run some errands or for a social event—because bad hair day doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look sweet, yeah?

However, a lot of women are still not fully comfortable wearing a head wrap in a professional environment because they feel it isn’t appropriate in the corporate world. So, if you’ve been considering wearing a head wrap to your workplace, but you’re unsure of how to pull this off, here are style inspirations to help you professionally slay the headwrap game.

The spiral knot

The shimmer set wrap

The twisted knot
