Stella Damasus advises women to protect themselves from domestic violence: ‘Learn martial arts to defend yourself’

Stella Damasus, a veteran of Nollywood, has encouraged women to learn how to protect themselves against violent partners.

The actress said this when responding to some men’s remarks on her Instagram page after she posted a clip from a movie. In the video, a lady discovered her husband cheating on her, and instead of crying or denying it, she attacked him with her martial skills.

“For me posting that video was not in any form promoting domestic violence,” she said.

Damasus claims she released the video to present a different side of the incident. Contrary to the traditional Nigerian film, in which the husband abuses or throws the wife out of the house.

Those who questioned the actress’ motivation for releasing the footage were blasted by her.

She went on to suggest that women who are victims of domestic abuse practice martial arts to defend themselves against their violent spouses.
