THE 2021 AISOBEN COLLECTION: AN ASSEMBLAGE WITH ITS SECRET LANGUAGE

When we talk about fashion, we all know it’s somewhat of an avenue to express ourselves and display our unique, respective personalities.

However, fashion isn’t just about putting on clothes. Oh no! It’s much more than that. Fashion is, in many ways, an express opportunity to tell the world who we are; to show the world the stuff we are made of.
This is why finding the right hands to help bring this to life is very important.

Bringing a personality to life through fabrics can be a herculean task. On this note, let’s take a quick peek into one of the notable fashion brands, Aisoben.

Aisoben is a women’s fashion brand committed to the elegance of slow fashion and the dignity of ethical craftsmanship. Founded in 2021 by Aisosa Faithful Enodunmwenben, they specialise in luxurious gowns, outfits for a diverse range of occasions, and custom pieces.

The brand also creates garments that are made to last both in style and construction.
Aisoben is a brand that truly believes fashion should be handled with intention and quality. This is where the true beauty of fashion lies. They combine beautiful fashion that has been soiled with African heritage, couture craftsmanship, and modern romanticism. They produce nearly perfect outfits based on this ideal.

In this review, we’ll be detailing and having a precise outlook at some of Aisoben’s beautiful outfits and designs.

Stick with us…

As we can see, this is a two-piece ensemble. At first glance, the outfit gives off an interesting look. The black long sleeve top is simple, clean and catchy. It is the kind of piece that works in almost any wardrobe. It’s easy to pair with a host of attire. But then, combining it with this skirt, we’re not so sure about that.

The combination of the black long-sleeve top and the skirt doesn’t really merge well. The top feels a little too plain against the skirt’s vibrant design. With the top, it’s like the wearer is going to a board meeting, and then, with the skirt, it’s as if the wearer is headed for a casual outing, perhaps, a brunch or something. It would have been better if the top had a similar design to the skirt. The skirt has a lot attached to it. We can see stripes, florals, and ruffles. If you want to pull off a skirt like this, you need a certain balance. The top should have been something else that displays some of that energy.

A designer top could have blended very well with the skirt. Now, what Aisosa could add to the equation is creating a balance in the equation. From what we can see, the skirt’s flare is sort of voluminous; hence, a slim-fitted designer top would have complemented it greatly. If the idea was to go for a more trendy, modest combination, thinking outside the box would have been the right path to follow.

Combining a slim-fitted top with this skirt would make whoever it is that wears it look well put-together, without appearing too stiff.
Regardless, the black ruffled hem looks nice. It adds texture and movement. The breaking up of the vertical lines gives the skirt a very nice touch.

Aisoben’s goal to keep the outfit from feeling too heavy or funky was a brilliant choice. We also can’t help but notice how creative the designer was with the bow-tie-like crafting attached to the top. It gives it a very sleek appearance. As for the flare of the skirt, the lace at the hem is a wise addition and attempt to create a uniform feel of the overall attire.

Here, we have a nice-looking cocktail dress, which is occasionally worn for events that are not so formal or, better still, stylish parties. It embraces the body nicely.

We like the shape of the lower part of the design and the horizontal stripes in blue, white and black. We should also note the colourful floral motifs that are scattered across. Not just that. We can see the difference between the structured bodice and the vibrant skirt. The difference is quite striking. It’s almost like two different personalities in one outfit. The top visibly screams sophistication, and the bottom portrays fun.

The ruffled hemline adds movement and volume, which we think is a smart touch. It certainly keeps the piece from feeling stiff and gives it that savvy energy. We can imagine the outfit swaying with every step and catching attention without even trying too hard.

When you have another look at this outfit from a certain angle, you think, maybe, ‘Oh! This feels like too much.’ Imagine how fantastic it could have turned out if the wearer had worn a belt or a waistband. Oh, this would have given the outfit a completely smooth outlook. Attaching accessories, like a bold earring or a necklace, could have also helped to balance the energy, too.

Now, for the negatives. Firstly, when textures, patterns, and colours are mixed, a clear vision is necessary; otherwise, the result would become chaotic.. The double circle shape makes the outfit look a bit off.

The dress currently has a plain and understated appearance that lacks visual impact. Incorporating elements like stripes and sleeves could significantly enhance its design, making it more visually appealing and dynamic.

Specifically, the addition of stripes would add a bold, confident flair, creating a structured and tailored silhouette that projects authority and self-assurance in the wearer. These stripes could be strategically placed to accentuate the dress’s shape, adding depth and sophistication to its overall look.

Furthermore, the inclusion of sleeves, whether short, three-quarter, or long, would contribute to a more polished and versatile design, offering both aesthetic structure and a sense of refinement. While simplicity in fashion can be intentional and effective, this dress would benefit from a touch of creativity and thoughtful craftsmanship to elevate it beyond its current minimalism.

By integrating these elements, the outfit could stand out as a striking, well-crafted piece that exudes confidence and beauty, appealing to a wider audience while maintaining a balance between simplicity and creative flair.

Wow! This outfit is quite something. It’s the kind of attire we wear, and then, boom! We step into a room. Attention! Attention! Attention! From the cropped, bright blue shirt to the high waist, wide-legged black pants with statement buttons, this combination is serving modern class with a splash of retro awareness. And to be honest, it’s on the right track.

Let us start with the shirt. If we analyse with precision, we’ll see that the flashy blue is a showstopper. It speaks vibrance and confidence. And add some boldness to the mix. When we look closely, we can spot little black symbols spread across the material to ignite our curiosity. One meticulous glance at it and we begin to wonder, ‘Does this outfit have its secret language?’

The crop is highlighted just enough to retain the youthful and fresh look, without unnecessarily revealing things. The sleeves add movement, personality, and a touch of high fashion. It’s giving runway energy but still feels wearable.

From the back, the shirt transforms into something even more interesting. The longer hem facing downwards adds dimension and flow. We shouldn’t see it as a mere crop top; it’s more of a statement piece. We also like how the front and back blend well, making the outfit even more detailed. It’s not jumbled together in any way.

We see some high-waisted pants with wide legs. Bring it on! This outfit is pleasing enough to the eyes, especially with the pairing of the crop top. As you can see, it has created a sync between the shirt’s colour and the overall outfit. We like how the wide legs give the outfit some semblance of drama and movement. It balances the volume of the sleeves perfectly.
We all know no outfit is 100% perfect; rightly so. And this particular one, however brilliant it looks, has more room to grow, and that is fine. There is always room for improvement.

Let’s commence with the shirt volume. The volume of the shirt might not be fitting for some body sizes, and this fact has to be considered. Imagine a person with a petite frame putting the sleeves on…just imagine. A slightly more tailored sleeve could have sufficed. The pants are beautifully cut, but we think they could use a bit more texture. Possibly, a subtle pinstripe or satin finish to add depth. The pants are solid, but they seem to be playing it very safe. With a shirt that bold, the pants could have certainly afforded to take a few more risks. Picture a more Gen Z-like baggy pants, with silk and soft lining.

And while the clothing looks strong and sharp, a little styling and furnishing would have been sleek. We recommend less cropping to the top. If the cropped top had been lesser, it would appear well put together than it is. Basically, the top is needlessly short, and way too long at the back. It makes no fashion sense.

Overall, the collection may not be perfect, but it is bold. And in the fashion world, most times, boldness often wins. While the outfit may have its flaws, its depicted boldness is undeniably what makes it stand out more. Well done to the Aisoben team, we await the next year’s collection.
