HOUSE OF DEBBY’S NEW COLLECTION MAKES A MOVE TOWARD NOTABLE FIRST IMPRESSIONS

House of Debby, under the creative direction of Fashion designer and illustrator, Deborah Adeola, released a new female wear collection.

This collection, named Impressions, features patterned flared skirts made from batik and cotton tube tops. Deborah’s background in fashion illustration was well demonstrated in the fluid lines of the skirts’ flare designs and the tube tops.

The proportions of the skirts were crafted to essentially enhance the feminine figure without hindering easy movement and comfort while wearing the outfits. The points of measure considered in making these designs testify to her trained eye for measuring dimensions as the high waist structure and flare of the skirts enabled the skirts to drape elegantly with the length stopping at the ankle level so that the skirts do not seem overwhelmingly long.

The bold and flowery patterns of the fabric, as well as its rich texture, are a strong plus to the collection. It contributes to the visual appeal of the skirts.

When paired together with the plain-coloured tube tops, the combination could pass for a gown. This speaks to the versatility of the collection as the skirts can be paired with regular full-sleeved tops or the already tailored tube tops.

The weight and drape of the fabric create a balance between flow and structure; however, this maximum focus on the appearance of the outfits might have resulted in a quiet oversight of practicality. Pockets were not included in the skirts, and this is a missed chance to serve wearers who value convenience as much as style.

Deborah exhibited a good level of garment construction skills, especially in the consideration of seam allowances. This contributed to the minimal bulk observed at the waistline, allowing the skirts to sit conveniently against the body.

The zipper was also reinforced properly to avoid cases of stress on the fabric over time, but the zipper could have been concealed better.

The skirts are particularly versatile in design; they could be styled for both casual and semi-formal gatherings. However, the strapless tops, while crafted with princess cuts and careful boning might feel limiting for some, as they offer minimal support and may not be able to serve a diverse range of body types.

The Impressions collection is designed for a young, style-conscious audience who seek bold, statement pieces rather than everyday staples. This collection reflects a strong design vision and a commendable level of illustration skill.

With improvements in internal support for the tops, and subtle finishing touches, which are just minor adjustments to a commendable showcase, this collection could better bridge the gap between visual appeal and wearability, elevating it to a more versatile level in the market and improving its potential market reach.
