RR ATELIER’S 2022 PIECES SPEAK VOLUMES WITHOUT SAYING A WORD

Founded by Uche Richard Amadi, RR Atelier is not just a brand focused on clothing, but also one that makes a statement in the fashion industry. The brand has consistently offered bespoke tailoring with designs that highlight top-notch craftsmanship.

The philosophy of RR Atelier is firmly anchored in the notion that fashion must combine individuality, structural luxury and cultural depth. Every design by the brand gives the modern woman her power and grace without having to say a word.

Each outfit showcases skillfulness and African heritage, which results in refined and unapologetically bold outfits.

The brand released its 2022 collection to show its drive to take fashion further. Each outfit is designed to stand out but still feel easy to wear every day. The brand uses shape, contrast, and flow to show personal style while keeping its cultural roots strong.

While some clothes whisper, RR Atelier 2022 collection speaks with confidence. The three outfits play it boldly between the brand’s signature bold silhouettes, rich textures, and cultural details.

Let’s examine if each piece in this collection carries the same quality of fluid textures and cultural depth that the brand claims.

The first in the collection is a two-piece outfit with a unique style that features a Bardot neckline that sits below the shoulders and shows the collarbone. The top is cropped, ending above the navel, with ruched fabric at the top and a band at the bottom.
The designer took the design a notch upward with a bishop sleeve. This adds structure and balance to the fitted blouse.

The sleeve gives the top a voluminous feel along the arm, complementing the crop top.
The outfit has palazzo trousers made in a long, wide-leg style. The waist is fitted to show shape, then the trousers flare out from the thighs to give a free and elegant look. They also have clear pleats running down the front and back of each leg.

The design shows skill, but the balance could be better for comfort and style. The sleeves and extra pleats add extra volume to the outfit, making it less stylish and attractive. Therefore, to improve it, the designer can reduce the sleeve size and remove the pleats.

Likewise, the bodice requires a bit more reconstruction to ensure it retains its desired shape when worn. The band holding the ruched style feels rushed with no fixed breadth. Additionally, the ruched style is not properly layered, resulting in an unflattering appearance.

Making this correction can better elevate the cloth’s overall appeal to a broader audience. Also, raising the shoulder level of the neckline can make the cloth appeal to conservative wearers who don’t love revealing their bodies.

Notwithstanding, this outfit is an excellent try from RR Atelier. It can be styled for different occasions based on needs. Informal and casual events can be graced with added fashion accessories like a clutch, heels and a simple necklace to have a more improved aesthetics.

The next outfit in the collection is a two-piece set. These designs’ tops and pants are cut from different fabrics that flow seamlessly. The top features the very popular V-neckline, which runs down a bit, revealing cleavage. This simple design cut enhances femininity, giving it a stylish appearance.

The bodice is designed into a peplum with a short-flared ruffle that extends downwards from the waistline. It also features a belt that runs across but underneath the bust region to a tie-front detail.

The sleeve features a combination of two different styles to balance the fitted bodice structure. It features a puff sleeve that is gathered at the shoulder and tapers into smocked cuffs. This is a display of top craftsmanship as the smocking gives the cuff an elastic and snug feel at the wrist. The pants are a straight-leg style running from the waist down to the ankle. And unlike the palazzo in the first design, the pant has a consistent shape from the hip to the ankle.

RR Atelier did a good job designing this outfit, but could take it to the next level. The sleeves aren’t properly joined to the bodice at the armpit. This creates a fold at the bust region of both sides. Also, while having a belt is a great feature that complements the outfit, the closure looks a bit messy, and this decreases the outfit’s overall appeal. Having better fastening details would enhance the outfit’s elegance.

Another area for improvement is the sleeve closure. While it appears the designer chose to make the tail end of the sleeve after the smocking into a flare, it doesn’t best suit the outfit. We’d suggest making the end of the sleeve fitted to add to the overall elegance of the flared design.

If these suggestions are considered, there’s a greater chance of this design piece appealing to a wider audience, while also improving the outfit’s versatility. With this, the outfit can surely be styled to taste for both formal and informal events.

The last outfit in the collection is a blazer and pants. It makes a strong statement by mixing classic style with modern touches. The blazer has a shawl collar that turns into a lapel, folding across the front. This gives the outfit a neat and timeless look.

A mesh-like fabric runs around it, adding a bold and striking contrast.
The bodice is made into a fitted structure with a single button closure at the waist, giving the outfit a sharp and structured silhouette. It also features a fitted straight-tailored sleeve. The pants are designed in a high-waisted, wide-leg style with a cut that flares out from the hips. It offers a flowing and more comfortable fit, balancing the fitted blazer structure.

RR Atelier showcased a creatively unique craftsmanship in this outfit, especially with the exaggerated neckline. The mesh-like fabric adds to the overall elegance. However, the added fabric does not have a great finish, making it look less attractive from the rear view. Hence, improving on this by reducing the size and having a much better closure or attaching the end to the blazer will enhance the look.

Also, the blazer appears too long, running down below the hips. This makes it bunch around the hips, giving a rough look. Therefore, the length needs to be reconsidered to provide the outfit with the best appeal to wearers. The back cinch of the blazer should also be improved to remove the squeeze.

Overall, the outfit results feel better than the first two outfits in terms of confidence and style, the reason being that the design’s versatility makes it ring a bell when seen. Also, the blazer can be worn to enhance the style of other outfits.

For instance, wearing this blazer over a plain black dress can instantly elevate the outfit from casual to stylish. The same goes for the pants as well.

Ultimately, RR Atelier uses this collection to showcase its excellent craftsmanship. With a mission to intentionally design for modern women, they ensure that each piece speaks volumes and sparks confidence. The brand’s signature style reflects through all the designs, with each piece displaying a bold statement of power, grace and cultural fusion.

Nevertheless, with a few improvements on each piece, the designer can expand their audience and enhance the overall appeal of each design.
