In an industry where creativity meets commerce, few leaders have made as profound an impact as Olusola Onoja.

As the Founder & Lead Instructor at DMC Fashion Academy, Onoja has spent over 18 years shaping the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs, not just through technical training but by instilling the business acumen necessary to thrive in today’s evolving market.  

Her leadership isn’t just about teaching design; it’s about empowerment, sustainability, and innovation. In a world where African fashion is gaining global recognition, leaders like Onoja are ensuring that the industry is not just participating—but leading the conversation.  

Onoja’s leadership philosophy is rooted in empowerment, inclusivity, and innovation. She isn’t just running a fashion academy—she is building an ecosystem that connects designers, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers, creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. One thing that is key to her leadership is a commitment to accessibility in fashion education.

Under her guidance, DMC Fashion Academy has pioneered a hybrid learning model that offers both in-person and online training to make fashion education more inclusive.  Onoja has also developed structured orientation programs that ensure students are not just skilled designers but savvy business minds. Through her brand, she has also launched an e-commerce platform, bridging the gap between African manufacturers and the global market. These aren’t just strategies—they are game-changers in an industry where knowledge is often confined to exclusive circles.

Onoja is breaking barriers and bringing fashion education to those who need it most.  
Without doubt, we can say a leader’s impact is measured by the legacy they create and Onoja’s influence can be seen in these various forms; the hundreds of designers she has trained since 2012 of which many have launched successful brands.

Secondly, her advocacy for sustainability ensures that African fashion moves toward ethical production, and thirdly her innovation in design, particularly in blending African prints with modern bag-making techniques.  
She has also played a crucial role in pushing locally-made African products into the global spotlight. In an industry often dominated by Western fashion houses, Onoja is proving that African designers can set trends, not just follow them. With these she has been recognized with multiple humanitarian service awards and the Service Above Self Award underscoring this importance that her work is not just about fashion—it’s about social impact.

Success in fashion isn’t just about talent—it’s about strategy, scalability, and sustainability. Onoja understands this better than most, which is why DMC Fashion Academy is more than just a school. She has transformed it into a multi-dimensional brand, incorporating: Education and mentorship, Manufacturing and production, fostering local job creation, E-commerce, and positioning African fashion for the global stage.  

Her approach to business is sharp and intentional. She isn’t just navigating competition—she is setting a new standard by focusing on quality, innovation, and mentorship. Most importantly, she is making ethical and sustainable fashion a core part of her business. In a time when fast fashion is under scrutiny, leaders like Onoja are proving that profitability and sustainability can go hand in hand.
