Police announces arrest of late Bimbo’s husband, IVD
The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of late Bimbo Ogbonna’s husband, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD.
She reportedly died on Saturday as a result of severe burns she sustained after setting fire to their home.
He was arrested in connection with the death of his wife. On Monday evening, police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin made the announcement via Twitter.
Hundeyin stated that the 37-year-old was transferred to the Yaba State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The police spokesperson also denied that the entrepreneur was on the run.
He stated:
Contrary to claims by family and friends that 37-year-old Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD is on the run, he has been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.
Since his wife’s death, IVD has been embroiled in a number of allegations.
Mama Jazz, the late Bimbo’s sister, accused the Lagos-based businessman of murdering her sister.
The car dealer, according to Bimbo’s family, has been on the run since his wife died.
The family also requested that the appropriate authorities ensure that justice is served in this case.
Late bimbo’s family wrote:
Several times during the course of their marriage, we intervened in a bid to rescue her from a terrible situation that ultimately has now taken her life.
The perpetrator of this dastardly act, her husband of 16 years, Ikenna Darry! Ogbonna, an auto dealer widely known as IVD, is currently on the run, hoping to evade justice. We know that it won’t be forever.
As the family tries to come to terms with this terrible loss, we want to appeal to members of the public to join us in demanding that justice is done.
