Mafe Micayah Onyemaechi Redefines Style with His “Black Is an Attitude” Collection

With his latest collection, Black Is an Attitude, designer Mafe Micayah Onyemaechi delivered, more than just fashion he delivered a statement.

Through his brand Waley Clothing, Mafe blends cultural richness with modern design to create something that feels both grounded in heritage and boldly forward looking.

Inspired by the strength, creativity, and beauty of Black culture, Black Is an Attitude explores what it means to express oneself with confidence and purpose. For Mafe, fabric isn’t just material, it’s a language. Every texture, cut, and outline tells a story of power, grace, and individuality.

The collection showcases a dynamic mix of handcrafted textiles, layered forms, and earthy yet striking tones. From tailored trenches and structured Adire pants and black shirts to bold outerwear, each piece captures a balance of refinement and rawness.

Like the image of a designer standing on a staircase, draped in his own artistry, Mafe’s creations command attention not through loudness, but through quiet strength. He believes that true style doesn’t need to shout it simply is.
But Black Is an Attitude goes beyond aesthetics. Waley Clothing is deeply committed to sustainability and community, sourcing fabrics responsibly and collaborating with local artisans to preserve traditional weaving techniques.

Mafe’s vision embodies the future of fashion one where heritage meets innovation, and where every design becomes a vessel for cultural storytelling.

In this collection, black isn’t just a color it’s a mindset. It’s rhythm, conviction, and pride. Through every stitch and shape, Mafe Micayah Onyemaechi celebrates identity, artistry, and the unapologetic power of being.
