Under the dim glow of chandeliers, Lagos witnessed a night to remember on 15th March 2023, as Annette Couture, helmed by the visionary Olawunmi Niyi-Leigh, unveiled her latest collection, “Colours of Grace.”
The private event radiated sophistication, with its luxurious decor of golden accents and rich textures, creating the perfect backdrop for a celebration of fashion and culture.
The models, all striking and elegant, brought life to the runway with their graceful walks and captivating presence. Each outfit was paired with sleek heels that elevated the ensembles, while accessories were kept minimal, ensuring the focus remained on the exquisite designs.
The show opened with a vibrant two-piece set that exuded youthful energy.

The crop top, tied with a bow at the back, and poofy trousers cinched at the waist and ankles, were adorned with swirling patterns in black, red, orange, yellow, and white. Styled with pink flower earrings, the ensemble was a celebration of fun and fashion.
Next was a cream blazer-and-shorts set paired with a black vest. The large purple patterns on the blazer added a bold contrast, while a pearl necklace brought an element of timeless elegance. This piece seamlessly blended modern sophistication with bold design choices.
The collection continued with a dazzling green jumpsuit that radiated charm. Its lacey detailing around the bust added a delicate touch, while the puffy sleeves introduced a playful yet refined vibe. The floral designs and the green fabric, accented with hints of brown and peach, created a graceful and enchanting aesthetic.

Another standout was a chic black abaya with subtle side slits. The black fabric, speckled with delicate white dots, was enhanced by leaf-like patterns in shades of blue, orange, yellow, brown, and nude. Functional pockets added a contemporary twist, making it a perfect blend of tradition and practicality.
The short-and-jacket set followed, showcasing bold creativity. The predominantly blue outfit featured dotted patterns in light and dark shades, accented with vibrant orange tones. This piece was a striking combination of clean lines and dynamic visuals, tailored for the modern woman.
Finally, a long, body-hugging Ankara dress brought the show to a stunning close. The dress featured a daring V-neckline and exaggerated puffed shoulders, balanced by a thigh-high slit. Decorative orange buttons cascaded down from the neckline, meeting the slit in a dramatic flourish. The geometric patterns in blue, peach, orange, and red created a harmonious symphony of boldness and femininity.

The “Colours of Grace” collection by Annette Couture is a testament to Olawunmi Niyi-Leigh’s unparalleled talent. Her ability to weave cultural heritage into contemporary fashion is truly remarkable. Each piece tells a story of elegance, creativity, and modernity, leaving an indelible mark on all who witnessed it.
