Court remands influencer, Blessing CEO till May 30th
Relationship expert and social media influencer, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has been remanded by the Lagos State Federal High Court on charges of cyber-bullying, libel, and exhibiting uncensored movies.
Okoro was arraigned on six counts and accused of using her Instagram page to defame the reputation of Folashade Samuels and the late Bimbo Ogbonna.
Okoro’s arrest is reportedly linked to her involvement in the case of celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, also known as IVD, and his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Okoro was arrested by the Force CID in Abuja and brought to Lagos for arraignment.
During the court sitting on Friday, March 31, Justice Yelim Bogoro ordered that Blessing CEO be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services until May 30 for a hearing of her bail application.
The judge’s decision was based on the severity of the charges against Okoro, which included exposing individuals to hatred, contempt, and ridicule.
The arrest of Blessing CEO has once again brought the issue of cyberbullying to the forefront of public discourse in Nigeria.
Cyberbullying has become a growing concern in recent years, with many individuals using social media platforms to harass, intimidate, and defame others.
