Davido is known for his talent in discovering and nurturing upcoming artists, and his latest signee, Morravey, has just revealed how the popular artist discovered and signed her.

In a recent interview with Turntable Charts, Morravey shared the story of how she received a life-changing message from Davido while in bed.

The Port Harcourt-bred singer had made a cover of a song, which her friend recorded without her knowledge. When they couldn’t post that particular song, the video was shared on social media, and it went viral.

Weeks later, Morravey received a message from Davido, who was impressed with her talent and wanted to sign her to his label, DMW.

“I was on my bed when I saw one text message and when I checked it, it was Davido. I shouted ‘Ye!’ I froze. And then, I texted my manager,” Morravey said.

Davido texted Morravey with the intention of signing her to his label after seeing her viral video on social media. “Your voice is amazing. Can I have your number?” he wrote in the message.

Morravey continued: “Then, he texted me: ‘What’s up? It’s David…’ Then, he texted me on WhatsApp and everything went down. He was like: ‘I want to see you in Lagos.’ And that’s how I pushed from Port Harcourt to Lagos.”

The young singer revealed that she had to move to Lagos to start her career with DMW, and she’s currently working on new music.

Davido’s talent in discovering and nurturing upcoming artists continues to shine, and Morravey is the latest beneficiary of his keen eye for talent.
